Sunriver Aquatic Center & Ampitheater One Step Closer to Reality

by Sunriver Homes on March 31, 2010

Sunriver AmpitheaterSunriver residents had a chance to look at the proposed plan for the Sunriver Aquatic Center & Multi-use Meeting Center which is designed to become a new center of Sunriver activity.

Personally, I think this would be a great addition to the Sunriver community. One thing Sunriver is not known for is its pool scene. Let’s face it, when you’re on vacation, especially with a family with children, the pool becomes one of the deciding factors for where you choose to stay. The proposed facility would incorporate 15,200 square feet of water space which would include a Lazy River, Leisure Pool, 2 Hot Tubs, 2 Water Slides and Kids Pool.

In addition, the facility would include an Amphitheater which would include seating of up to 1000 people. There would also be a meeting/conference area which would allow for indoor seating of 400 people or 200 people with tables. The multi-use building would also have two smaller meeting rooms, a catering kitchen, community living room complete with two sided fireplace and patio. Other features would include a picnic area, sand play area, and nearly an acre of lawn space.

When you consider the myriad destination resort options available within the Pacific Northwest, the aforementioned facility would only help Sunriver’s appeal as the place to get away and enjoy the outdoors. It would also allow for more functions and activities to take place within the community which would add more revenue and value to the community itself.

The ballot measure should be completed by April 17th, 2010 and will be mailed out to owners for vote on July 15. It’s fate will be determined by August 14th 2010 when voting closes. If approved the cost is expected to be $17.6 million.
